Bands get all the attention. How about some of the comedians showcasing at CMF this week? Here’s our Q&A with Toronto comedian Amanda Brooke-Perrin.

AUX: Tell us why everyone in Toronto needs to come see your CMF showcase.

Amanda Brooke-Perrin: Listen. I didn’t want it to come to this, but if you don’t come see me perform at CMF, I will hold all of the new-born kittens in the city hostage. (I might do this anyway, but why risk it, right?)

Is performing as part of a music festival like CMW fun? Or is it the worst? You can tell us.

UGH. The worst. I HATE having fun and that is exactly what is going to happen. It’s like, please just let me live my miserable life without interrupting me with your “cool venues” and “amazing volunteers” and “wicked good times.”

Who’s your favourite Toronto comic and why?

AHHHH! That is actually so hard to say because I have SO many favourites. This city is filled to the BRIM with amazing talent. Go out to any comedy show in Toronto and I will guarantee you will find one great act whom you’ll fall in love with. That being said, I am always enchanted watching Ryan Belleville, Chris Locke, Rebecca Kohler, Debra DiGiovanni, and Mark Forward.

Who’s your favourite Toronto band/artist and why?

I love Metric and Broken Social Scene. I listened to both bands a lot in high school, so that nostalgia = infinity happiness. Emily Haines is a force!

What else are you up to that we should know about?

I’m on Twitter! I run a show the 3rd Tuesday of every month at The Central called That Was Great. AAANNNNDDD I’m thinking of making chicken pot pie for dinner. So stay tuned for that.

Amanda Brooke-Perrin performs Tuesday, March 19 at the Central (as part of the aforementioned That Was Great) and Saturday, March 23 at Tallboys. Check the CMW schedule for full details.
