With their two singles, “Don’t Haunt Me, OK?” and “Slimer,” Halifax / Ottawa troupe Cold Warps displayed their ability to work dark elements into their brand of surf-tinged pop-punk. (To wit: The b-side of “Slimer,” “Sleep Creepin’,” was seemingly about Halifax’s sleepwatcher, a man who’d break into houses to watch women sleep.) Their latest batch of songs, released today on cassette via Ottawa’s Bruised Tongue, continues that trend—and the breezy, creepy-crawlin’ “Worry Worms” has the band at their best.
