Perry Ferrell seems unsurprisingly unsatisfied with the music industry in a new interview with Prefix, telling writer Hannah Matix that musicals are the future of music and announcing that yes, he’s working on one

“Musicals make more sense because they’re telling stories and they have costumes and something to look at,” he said. “But it’s going to turn into something else. It already is turning into something else. The agony and the frustration is that it’s not developed yet.”

Naturally, he implied that he’s the one to develop it. He says he’s working on a play, or a musical, adding that it’s going to be “immersive theatre.”

“I’m going to create an environment,” he explains. “The music will be within that environment, and Jane’s Addiction will be within that environment.”

So what does this mean? Is he writing new Jane’s Addiction music as a play? Is he interpreting it? Who knows.
