Joel Plaskett has revealed that he’s been honoured with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which is given to 60,000 Canadians in recognition of their service to the country.
The criteria for winning the medal is simple enough: be alive on February 6th, 2012, the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s crowning, and more importantly, make a significant contribution to the country. Joel Plaskett checked both boxes.
He posted about the award on Friday, revealing the honour and later tweeting a picture of the medal itself. He last released Scrappy Happiness in 2012, which was celebrated with a unique unveiling process: a new song every week for ten weeks culminating in a full album release immediately after.
