To be honest, we could have made a list a list of terrible lyrics using only songs released by Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and 2 Chainz this year, but we decided to share the shade amongst a larger group of hip-hop's most popular emcees.

Even though 2012 saw the rise of Kendrick Lamar and the lyrically-minded Black Hippy crew, mainstream hip-hop is still plagued by careless lyricists focused more on getting faded than telling a story. These lyrics are far from intellectually stimulating, but at the same time, there’s nothing funnier than a failed punchline or a ridiculously cheesy rap simile.

AUX has combed through the 2012 hip-hop charts and cherry-picked the lamest rap lyrics from the year’s releases. To be honest, we could have made a list a list of terrible lyrics using only songs released by Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and 2 Chainz this year, but we decided to share the shade amongst a larger group of hip-hop’s most popular emcees. It should be noted that will.i.am’s shit-tastic “T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)” appears twice on this list, and even though it was technically released in late 2011, we’ve spent the better part of the year hating it, so for all intents and purposes, it’s fair game.
