Rather than send out a press release or tweet, Kurt Vile decided to announce his new album with a giant painted mural in his home town of Philadelphia.

A picture of the mural was first posted by Vile’s Violators guitarist Jesse Trbovich, who said on Facebook that Wakin on a Pretty Daze is in fact the new album’s title, which Consequence of Sound later confirmed with Matador records.

Naturally, the mural’s expected to be part of the new album’s artwork.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened (this month, even): Thom Yorke ran with the idea earlier this month (via Pitchfork), when he unveiled new artwork for his band Atoms for Peace’s album Amok on the outside walls of XL Recordings’ LA office. Even cooler: artist Stanley Donwood turned it into an animated GIF, because why not, right?
