DMX's "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" is the best version ever recorded

The holiday season is upon us, and as per usual, many artists are padding their bank accounts by rolling out holiday-themed albums. Cee Lo Green has Cee Lo’s Magic Moment, his Voice co-star Blake Shelton has Cheers, It’s Christmas, and John Travolta and Olivia Newton John even have a collaborative Christmas album called This Christmas. But one of the last voices you expect to hear singing a Christmas carol is the aggressive bark of rapper DMX.

DMX recently stopped by New York radio station KTU 103.5, and indulged listeners with a spot-on acapella version of “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” from memory. After hearing this, it’s easy to imagine an entire album of Christmas traditionals with DMX’s unique, raspy, violent spin on them. If it was called It’s December And Christmas Is Cold, we’d buy it.
