It’s that time again: for the third year running, AUX’s team of (surprisingly judgey) elves has curated a list of music’s biggest brown-nosers and evildoers. Moral absolutists as we are, we’ve left no room for shades of grey—in 2013, we only selected heroes or villains. Give us binaries or give us death, we say.

Not that creating this list was easy—quite the opposite, in fact. 2013 was a year fraught with ambiguity, and we had a tough time determining whether we liked Kickstarter, or if Pussy Riot’s story concluded on a positive note, or  if we loved (or hated) the cultural endurance of EDM.
