Even with the success of her latest album, Sun, it seems like Cat Power still can’t seem to catch a break. After perservering through years of alcohol abuse and mental illness, it seems like Marshall’s now on the verge of cancelling her European tour due to a mix of financial and health reasons. Among them, that she’s apparently bankrupt.

She outlined the situation in a post uploaded to her Instagram last night.

“I may have to cancel my European tour due to bankruptcy & my health. I have not thrown in any towel, I am trying to figure out what best I can do. Heart broken. Worked so hard. Got sick day after Sun came out & been struggling to keep all points of me in equilibrium: mind, spirit, body healthy centered & grounded. I am doing the best I can. I fucking love this planet. I refuse to give up. Though I may need to restratagize [sic] for my security and health.”

With 5 days left on her North American tour before she heads to the Netherlands, Marshall’s got just a little bit of time to figure things out. Here’s hoping she can, not for her fans, but for herself. At this point, she’s earned peace of mind. We wish her the best.

Cat Power plays Vancouver on November 2nd.
