Mitt Romney dug himself into an even deeper political hole with a recently leaked video where he called almost half of the electorate “victims” in front of supporters at a $50,000-per-plate dinner. Romney was quick to defend himself, calling the remarks “off the cuff” and noting that one-to-two minutes of his rambling speech were missing from the leaked footage. We don’t know what he could have said in two minutes to pardon the damning blabberings of the first 36, but John Darnielle is here to help.

The Mountain Goats singer went on Twitter this morning to help contextualize the whole fiasco for the music fan that might be largely unaffected by another country’s Presidential election. Rather than try to guess what Romney might have said, he decided to put the controversy in the context of an unrelated Fugazi 7″. What ensued was absolute internet gold.
