New Pornographers lead singer A.C. Newman is currently on his third solo album Shut Down the Streets, a 70s folk/pop-inflected masterpiece, available via Matador on October 9.

One of the standout tracks is “Encyclopedia Of Classic Takedowns” (below), featuring that signature New Pornos “rhythmic chug and chiming harmonies with the forceful presence of longtime collaborator Neko Case.” I recommend you hear this song.

A.C. Newman is currently on tour in the U.S.; look for him in Europe in early 2013.
