The reigning queen of the toxic talk-sing is back, and she’s brought her signature sleazy steeze with her. “Die Young” doesn’t have the bombastic hair-metal infusion that Ke$ha promised us, but it might be safe to assume the label is hoping to pay some bills with this electro-pop hit, before unleashing Ke$ha’s fully-engorged inner rock demon.

The reigning queen of the toxic talk-sing is back, and she’s brought her signature sleazy steeze with her. The first single from Warrior has officially hit the web, and if you actually like Ke$ha (is there anyone out there?), you’re probably going to like “Die Young.” Conversely, if Ke$ha annoys the living piss out of you (hello, most people in the world), you should probably hit the “back” button on your browser immediately.

Okay, now that the haters are gone, I can reveal my closet-Animal status. Get out your glitter, and let’s dig into this new single.

It’s been almost two full years since we’ve heard any new material from K-Dolla. While Ke$ha promised a rock and roll re-invention on Warrior, “Die Young” doesn’t seem to deviate at all from the commercially-proven formula used on her previous singles. Ke$ha’s main collaborator and mentor Dr. Luke (along with help from Benny Blanco and Cirkut) has concocted another electro-pop hit-in-waiting, with a ballsy synth lead, a massive beat, and plenty of room in the verses for Ke$ha to flex her whiskey-drunk swagger.

Anyone who was looking forward to something a little more freaky-deaky (like The Flaming Lips’ “2012 (You Must Be Upgraded),” perhaps?) will be disappointed in this cookie-cutter track — but don’t lose hope just yet. The Flaming Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne produced at least three songs for Warrior, which should satisfy your need for experimentation.

“Die Young” doesn’t have the bombastic hair-metal infusion that Ke$ha promised us, but it might be safe to assume the label is hoping to pay some bills with this electro-pop hit, before unleashing Ke$ha’s fully-engorged inner rock demon. Let the beard-sucking, booze-swilling, crap-rapping misadventures continue!
