I’ve always thought Bob Dylan kind of sounded like he was melting, but Vulture‘s done one better with a cheat sheet curated from reviews of his latest album Tempest that does its best to figure out just what he sounds like this time around. Here are some of our favourites:

” … like David Johansen after three packs of Pall Malls.” —Justin, ChunkyGlasses.com

” … At times it sounds (and seems) like this is Bob Dylan-pretending-to-be-Tom Waits-pretending-to-be Bob Dylan.” —Simon Sweetman, Blog on the Tracks”

” … a battered instrument that sounds like a hoarse Fred Sanford after an all-night fight with Lamont.” —Howard Cohen, Miami Herald”

Check out the rest here for references to gargling and garbling and zombie bullfrog hollering.
