NBC has inked a deal with Green to bring his undeniable charisma and even-less-deniable stumpiness to their airwaves.
Cee Lo Green: multi-platinum recording artist, reality show judge… sitcom star? If you’ve been dreaming of a chance to see Cee Lo Green star in his own scripted comedy show, first of all, that’s a pretty weird dream. Secondly, you may just get your chance, as NBC has inked a deal with Green to bring his undeniable charisma and even-less-deniable stumpiness to their airwaves.
The network gave him a first look deal to produce and likely star in a series loosely based on his experience of juggling his recording career and home life. For NBC, which currently boasts popular sitcoms like… ahem… this one reeks badly of trying to recapture the magic of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, which dominated the ratings in the 1990s. Given that Cee Lo Green has shown no evidence of a sense of comedic timing or any inkling that he’s even a little bit funny, this project sounds like a slam dunk!
This took some serious sneakiness, but Pop Hunter has managed to secure the first two pages of the script for “Being Green.” Enjoy!
