That voice. That vibrato. On the other night’s episode of The X-Factor, Britney Spears sang “Happy Birthday” to LA Reid in what ultimately came off as a desperate attempt to prove she can still sing. It didn’t really go as planned.

Some songs don’t lend themselves to vocal runs, and this is one of them. And while Reid seemed surprised and happy enough, because it was still a pretty nice (if staged) gesture, we really can’t get over some of the more egregious vocal flubs. Like when she sings his name, which was so awful we had to make it into a ringtone.

You read that right. Head here to download it. It’s an .M4R file, which means it’s only compatible with iPhone users, but using it is as easy as plopping the file into iTunes and making sure it’s checked off the next time you sync. Curious? Click here to hear an MP3 preview.

But don’t worry, Android and Blackberry users. We’ve also got a funky little remix of the track for you to enjoy. It’s what would happen if she sang over viral sensation DMX’s “Party Up”. Why? Why not. You might not remember, but before he became a viral sensation DMX was a pretty big artist in his own right, and “Party Up” might have been his biggest song, so why not listen to it remixed with Britney below. And obviously that’s the original video up top.
