Dinosaur Jr. did what a lot of artists have done this summer with their new video for “Watch the Corners,” which focuses on carefree, shit-stirring teens doing what they do best—nothing. But Dinosaur Jr. aren’t shaking their fists at these punk kids, and truth be told they’re hardly in the video at all, appearing only for a few brief bits on a blurred TV screen.

With the help of Funny or Die, who we assume is behind casting Tim Heidecker as an over-protective dad, “Watch the Corners” is a fitting signal to the to the end of the summer music video season because it does what so many others have been doing for the past few months, only better. It adds a story, age old as it might be. It defines a very clear beginning, middle and end. And Tim Heidecker is in it, shooting ketchup at a dude’s crotch and calmly painting model airplanes. That guy rules.

Anyways, bands: now that dudes your dad’s age are putting out videos like this, it’s time to think about how you’ll take to the fall season. Might we suggest something in a cemetery, or maybe something near a swamp?
