Since music festivals on boats are already passé now that Coachella has hopped onto the idea, Virgin American has partnered with FILTER to take things up a notch. According to Consequence of Sound, they’re going to have one in the air.

Now naturally it’s not on the same scale as Boatchella or Barge to Hell, exclusively featuring acoustic and DJ acts, but it’s still a pretty ridiculous concept, even if it’s a fest in name only. The “I’m With The Band” cross country flight takes fans from JFK airport in New York to LAX in Los Angeles on October 3rd and will feature DJ sets from Kevin Barnes (of Montreal) and School of Seven Bells and an acoustic set by Penguin Prison. Officially, the flight “festival” is meant to start FILTER’s yearly Culture Collide Festival, which runs October 4th to the 7th.

Here’s hoping someone announces gigs on a submarine sometime soon.
