Can you imagine Taylor Swift’s face when she heard the news that she’s got her first (yes, her first) #1 on the Billboard Hot 100?

In its second week on the charts, Taylor Swift’s Max Martin-produced breakup-anthem “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” rose from #72 to #1 on the Hot 100. This is the first time Taylor has reached the chart’s summit, coming as close as #2 on two separate occasions (with “You Belong With Me” and “Today Was A Fairytale”).

Taylor’s first #1 comes on the heels of a record-breaking 623,000 downloads sold in its first week. When the single was first released, we commented that it was easily her poppiest and least-crossover countryish single to date, and it would seem that the song’s pop radio accessibility catapulted her to the top of the Hot 100 for the first time in her career.

Maybe the best news about this: Taylor has knocked Flo Rida’s insufferable single “Whistle” to the #2 spot, outselling him by an astonishing ratio of almost 2:1. Get out, and stay out, Flo Rida.

You can catch Taylor Swift performing at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6th at the Los Angeles Staples Center. The list of confirmed performers also includes Alicia Keys, Green Day, One Direction and Pink.
