Alanis Morissette, avoiding eye contact with Vanilla Ice by instead looking right into your soul

In a recent interview with the Guardian picked up by Gigwise, inventor of ’90s alternative rock Alanis Morissette revealed that, during an early tour with pioneering rap icon Vanilla Ice, she was instructed explicitly to not look him in the eye.

Today, Robert Van Winkle is the host of the home improvement show The Vanilla Ice Project, and probably lets people make eye contact with him sometimes. But before Morissette had released the google-selling Jagged Little Pill, Winkle was still a top music industry dog, and apparently didn’t want people, you know, looking at him.

For her part, Morissette is sympathetic to the madness of fame, and doesn’t seem to really care. Her latest album, Havoc and Bright Lights, is scheduled for release on August 28, 2012.
