After being surprised about winning every award possible, Taylor Swift is finally ready to follow-up her massively successful 2010 record Speak Now.

In a live webchat last night, Taylor Swift revealed that her new album Red will be released on October 22nd. When discussing the album title, Taylor told her fans that “the different emotions that are written about on this album are all pretty much about the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I’ve experienced in the last two years. All those emotions — spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that — in my mind, all those emotions are red. You know, there’s nothing in between. There’s nothing beige about any of those feelings.”

She also revealed the album cover, and played the debut single for her fans. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is produced by veteran pop producer Max Martin, and was released to iTunes last night (it almost immediately skyrocketed to #1). Have a listen to what is undoubtedly Taylor Swift’s poppiest (and least country-ish) single to date:

It takes about three seconds before you realize that this isn’t your typical Taylor Swift crossover hit. Her usual sombre acoustic guitar is chopped up and effected by Martin, and the four-on-the-floor electronic drum beat carrying the song might have difficulty finding a welcome home on country radio. It sort of reminds us of Shania Twain’s Up!, which had a decidedly more “pop” feel than Come On Over. That might have something to do with all the cheeky spoken word stuff that Taylor Swift’s new single has, mind you.

Also, since Taylor let us know that the record is definitely about her past relationships, you’ve gotta wonder who this song is about. Joe Jonas? Taylor Lautner? John Mayer? Jake Gyllenhaal? Tim Tebow? Patrick Schwarzenegger?! Man, for someone with a sugar-sweet wholesome image, Taylor Swift sure gets around.

Watch out for Red on October 22nd.
