Bob Dylan's video for "Duquesne Whistle" hits twee-quirkiness with mace and a baseball bat

To put it plainly, Bob Dylan’s new video for “Duquesne Whistle” is absolutely great. But it’s also not for the faint of heart, mixing the forced twee-quirkiness of 500 Days of Summer with Pulp Fiction‘s unforgiving attitude. The combination is perhaps thanks to director Nash Edgerton, who doubles as a stuntman in his daily life.
There’s a story to the video, starring an at-first earnest seeming dude trying to charm a local lady before taking his eccentricities to creepy heights. Oh, and then this scene happens at the end:
