On August 14, 2012, Taylor Allison Swift, better known by the stage name “Taylor Swift,” released the single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The first single from Swift’s forthcoming album, Red, “Never Ever” quickly became the fastest-selling single in iTunes history. And after it had been available for all of fourteen seconds, everyone had an opinion about what lousy lover was on the receiving end of Swift’s pointed pop barbs (“Hide away and find your peace of mind / With some indie record that’s much cooler than mine”).

In an earth-shaking revelation today, former Swift paramour Joe Jonas stated the song isn’t about him. So, was it John Mayer? Signs point to no, since Mayer isn’t known for big-upping his fav indie records.

SO WHO IS IT? In the spirit of baseless speculation based on nothing more than a photo of two people standing near each other at a yogurt joint, we answer this big, important question with a series of ambiguous photographs of Swift and other things.

Is “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” about…

… T-Pain?

… Kenny Chesney?

… Carrie Underwood?

… Snoop?

… this issue of Your Prom magazine?

… a hot dog?

… these two Union Jack hats?

… this bunny?

… this cat?

… a baby?

… an inanimate carbon rod?
