NXNE Day 4: Flaming Lips, Limblifter, and a Q&A with Toronto's Brews Willis

Hi we’re tired. Can’t wait to see the Flaming Lips fill Toronto’s downtown core tonight. And Limblifter play at El Mocambo. I guess the rest of you are going to see Radiohead though. Read an interview with Toronto’s Brews Wills about having a fun festival below.

AUX: Say you’re playing Toronto host for a day to a band/artist from out of town. Where do you take them?

Brews Willis: If we were playing host to Bleached during NXNE we would take them to Bistro 422 on College St. It’s close to their showcase at Silver Dollar…we are super thoughtful guys. We would drink mini pitchers of strong mixed drinks / beers and have a sloppy blast. Later on we might go to Sneaky Dees for food…also close by.

Is there anything you’re looking forward to seeing or adamant about avoiding at NXNE?

We are really looking forward to seeing Bleached at Silver Dollar every night of NXNE. Oh and also looking forward to being their host – you can still hook that up right?

What’s the best and worst thing about a festival like NXNE? Does it compare to others you’ve played or attended?

The best thing is the 4am last call and the worst thing is the 4am last call.

What’s your favourite Toronto artist, and why?

Gonna have to say Brews Willis…we’ve seen them live soooo many times! They are a sheened out party all the time

Tell us why your show is the show everyone should make sure to see.

We have a few different surprises lined up for all 3 of our showcases. Come get wild – spray beer and party. We just love great energy.

What else is Brews Willis up to that we should know about?

We are almost done the new album…check out the demo track album leaks on Soundcloud. Music video in the works so come party for that

Brews Willis play Saturday @ 12pm at a secret park location (announced day of), 3 a.m. at Sneaky Dees, and Sunday June 17 @ 5:30 p.m. at the Hashtag Gallery NXNE hangover BBQ.
