METZ have been destroying stages around the Greater Toronto Area for years now, but the Ottawa-born band will soon take their terrorizing sound to a bigger audience with Exclaim reporting that they’ve signed to Sub Pop records.

In an interview, METZ’s Alex Edkins says it’s the label the band dreamt of being on, which is why it’s the only one they sent their music to.

“It was really a pipe dream type thing,” he says. “We wanted to find a good home for the record, we had been working on it for a while. And that was definitely our number one pick.”

He goes onto say that the deal had been in the works for a while now, and confirms what we already know: that the band’s heavily anticipated full-length is on its way. We might not know what it’s going to be called (probably METZ if we were the betting type), but we do know fans can expect it in stores on October 9th. There’s a trailer for the album up top. It’s short, running for just 35-seconds, but it does give a bit of a taste of some new music.

Also, NXNEers: don’t forget, METZ play their first of two festival gigs tonight, supporting the Men at Wrongbar in Toronto.
