End Hits is a weekly podcast hosted by Sam Sutherland, featuring interviews with musicians and musician-types from a dining table in Toronto.

Our thirteenth episode of End Hits (listen to the rest another time) brings Brendan Canning to our dining table. Currently promoting the latest record from his long-dormant Cookie Duster project, Canning is probably best known as a founding member of Broken Social Scene (or maybe he’s best known for spending enough time in Len to get a credit on “Steal My Sunshine,” according to Wikipedia). A seemingly tireless and endlessly creative artist (he’s been sketching a lot these days), Canning’s latest work with Cookie Duster, When Flying Was Easy, sits comfortably with the best of his work. A poppy, inventive, occasionally psychedelic piece of ’90s throwback, the album is available June 12.
