Azealia Banks raps, but she’s not a rapper. Those are her words, not ours, posted under the title “no longer wishing to be a rapper” on her Tumblr over the weekend.

“i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullshit urban media, i started getting myself in trouble,” she writes. “From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the “rap game”… or whatever the fuck that means…”

But it didn’t stop there. Banks didn’t just drop the emcee tag, with Rolling Stone reporting that she’s severed ties with her manager, Troy Carter, who she’d been working with since April. Carter says the two ended their working relationship on amicable turns, adding, “[s]he’s incredibly talented and I wish her nothing short of an amazing career.”

Oh, and she’s also decativated her Twitter account, saying it makes her “entirely too accessible” and asking fans to “catch her” on Tumblr.
