Said the Whale have had some bad band luck in the past 14 months—in March of 2011, the band was robbed of thousands of dollars of gear while touring in California, and last night, they tweeted from the road in the U.K. that their van had been broken into and “laptops/band money/passport/guitar pedals” stolen.

Half the belongings were quickly returned, and the band praised the British Police, but they remain on the trail of the rest of the stuff. When questioned why they’d leave all that stuff in the van (especially after previous incident), the band said it was only left alone for an hour, in broad daylight, and that they didn’t even question it.

At least one fan had sent the band a donation via email money transfer; the band says they will not accept it. Bands! [via Exclaim!]
