Handsome Furs break up

After 6 years and 3 albums, the Handsome Furs announced last night that they were calling it quits.

“The most important thing that needs to be said right now is how extremely grateful we are to all the fans all over the world that showered us with love and support over the years,” said the band in a statement posted to their website. “Thank you for everything! It’s been an incredible 6 years and we owe it all to you.”

The duo, which consisted of husband and wife Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry, released Sound Kapital last year to critical acclaim.

The band has essentially refused to elaborate on the break-up, which is absolutely their right, but Spinner points to rumours from a Victoria Times Colonist columnist which suggest that Boeckner is now living in LA and working with a new group.
