The Flaming Lips have always been a bit odd, but lately it’s like they’ve taken it to another level, seemingly doing things just to say they did. Their latest stunt, following up 6 and 24 hour songs and an album embedded with human blood is a modest one in comparison, as they’ll try to beat Jay-Z’s record of seven shows in seven cities in one day with a bus trip across the Southern US states.

Pitchfork says they’ll make the attempt to break the record for “most live concerts in 24 hours in multiple cities” on June 27th with eight gigs in eight cities, every one of which will be streamed live online.

“To play and sing Flaming Lips songs at 8:00 in the morning… Well… I’m open to new experiences…” said singer Wayne Coyne about the marathon of shows.
