Flaming Lips re-write "Race for the Prize" to support the Oklahoma City Thunder

Flaming Lips have re-written one of their most iconic songs in support of their home town Oklahoma City Thunder’s recent successes in the NBA playoffs. “Thunder Up:Racing For The Prize!!!” is a new take on “Race For The Prize,” which first appeared on 1999’s The Soft Bulletin.

Written with the help of fans, the track features lyrics like, “and when they win, we win with them. Oh, they’ll keep fighting for Oklahoma.” It isn’t the smoothest appropriation, but you’ve got to appreciate the idea. Unless you’re from San Antonio. Or Seattle… Or Los Angeles.
