Erykah Badu will be naked, covered in goo in new Flaming Lips video

We’ll give them this much: for a band that hasn’t released a proper full length since 2009’s Embryonic, the Flaming Lips sure have found a way to stay in the news. For their next trick, they’ll release… a music video. No big deal, other than the fact that “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” will apparently feature a naked Erykah Badu covered in red goo and later in a bathtub filled with “fake semen”.

That’s according to a series of tweets from Lips leader Wayne Coyne, including photos which show Badu—who sings on the track—first standing nude dripping with a blood-like goop, and later crouched in a bathtub filled with glitter and the aforementioned pseudo-splooge. The blood thing we understand, since the track is featured on this year’s Heady Fwends, which was released in limited quantities with human blood embedded in the vinyl, but as for the fake semen (which Coyne posted numerous videos about)? We’ll chalk that up to the band’s usual eccentricities.

As Prefix points out, this isn’t the first time Badu’s stripped on camera. She was arrested in 2010 when she stripped in public during the video shoot for the song “Window Seat”.
