J Dilla was as prolific as he was talented. When he was diagnosed with the blood disease that ultimately took his life, he continued to make music from his hospital bed, and since his untimely death in 2006, his unfinished works have been trickling out, some in their unfinished form and some having been completed by any number of Jay Dee’s innumerable friends and collaborators.

And now it seems like more music might be on the way, with AllHipHop reporting that a Royal Oak, Michigan record store owner has stumbled across a collection of hundreds of unreleased J Dilla tapes, notebooks and more. More impressively, the owner, Jeff Bubeck, reportedly turned down offers from all over to sell the material. That’s according to Dilla’s mom, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey, who Bubeck handed the material over to as soon as he realized what he’d gotten his hands on.

No word on when we’ll hear what was found, but apparently its a fair bit. Bubeck was sorting through an old storage unit he’d taken control of and found a whooping “7,000-8,000 records, notebooks, notes and other handwritten artifacts by J.Dilla.”
