J Dilla's record collection may be for sale in a Detroit-area store

Jeff Bubeck, one of the owners of Royal Oak, Michigan record store UHF, acquired the musical contents of an abandoned storage space last month, and has now realized that the 7,000-8,000 records may be much more valuable than he originally realized.
According to the Detroit News, they just may be the collection of the late J Dilla. Included with the records was a box of cassettes labeled “Jaydee Beats,” as well as lyric booklets, and various pieces of mail addressed to James Yancey (Dilla’s real name) and Beverly and Maureen Yancey (his parents).
Bubeck wasn’t immediately familiar with the Yancey name, but Google set him straight. He is currently trying to get in touch with Dilla’s family, and plans to share some of the profits with the J Dilla Foundation. [via Brooklyn Vegan]
