Who knew Jay-Z had such influence on politicians? Not only did two Florida House of Representatives member quibble over the lyrics to “99 Problems” back in March, but Slate is reporting that French Presidential hopeful François Hollande used “Niggas in Paris” off Jay and Kanye’s Watch the Throne in a recent campaign video.

Crazier still, it seems to have worked. Word is that Hollande is ahead in the early stages of polling, which is said to be thanks to how closely his advisers studied Obama’s 2008 run for United States President.

The commercial, which uses an uncensored version of the song, sees Hollande (a middle aged, white dude, by the way) doing what he apparently does best: appeal to France’s increasingly dissatisfied youth. Watch it up top and decide for yourself whether it’s an appropriate use of the song.
