We were stoked when we first heard Conor Oberst had reunited his wonderful but shortlived punk band Desaparecidos. Then we found out it was for a one-off show in their hometown this summer.

But then, last night, they performed a secret, surprise show in Omaha, and surprisingly two new songs came with it. Thanks to the resourceful folks over at Consequence of Sound, we’ve got a video of one of them (“Left is Right”) which you can check out below. The quality isn’t the best, but it’s more than enough for fans who’ve been itching for something new since 2002’s Read Music/Speak Spanish. There’s no footage of the other new track, “Backsell,” but it will probably turn up online eventually.

Up to now, the band still only has Omaha’s Maha Music Festival on August 11th as its only scheduled show, but here’s hoping last night’s secret show and two new songs are hinting at something more.
