The rumours are true! Despite a recent cancellation of their U.K. Sonisphere Festival appearance, Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor confirmed that Adam Lambert would be joining the band as lead vocalist for 4 scheduled dates this summer.
Taylor disclosed that Queen will be appearing with Glambo at the Moscow Sonisphere Festival date, in Kiev on a bill with Elton John, as well as on two scheduled appearances at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo.
Mercury-purists might be initially displeased with this partnership, but Lambert has a long history of performing Queen songs. He sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” for his American Idol audition, sang “We Are The Champions” (with Queen) during the Idol finale episode, and performed a Queen medley with the band during the 2011 MTV EMA awards in Dublin.

I’m not sure he could go toe-to-toe with Freddie, but it sounds to me like Adam Lambert can handle himself pretty well. What do you guys think?
