This Exists uncovers and explores the musical peculiarities that exist in the dark corners of the internet, sometimes just outside the mainstream. Today we take a look at Mars Volta/At the Drive-In singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s bizarre fascination with NBA player Kris Humphries.

Even if you can’t make it to Coachella, you’re likely excited by the prospect of an At the Drive-In reunion. And you should be. But maybe you’ve read Omar Rodriguez Lopez’s quotes about how money and nostalgia were the key factors in the reunion, and maybe that’s gotten you down a bit.

Here’s something you might not know about the reunion. Kris Humphries is the reason it happened. At least that’s what singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s been saying on Twitter:

See?

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Since starting his Twitter account in mid-January (announcing it on At the Drive-In’s account with the phrase “THIS VATO IS NOW OPERATIONAL”), Bixler (sometimes Bixler-Zavala) has been inviting fans to witness his wildly eccentric sense of humour, much of which seems almost solely perpetuated on his weird Kris Humphries fixation.

When Bixler said he’d be opening a Twitter Q&A about how Humphries “single handedly got At the Drive-In to reform,” his fans were confused to say the least. And so they asked what was up. This was his response.

Here are some of the weirder examples, taken from both Bixler-Zavala’s Twitter and Instagram (cbz1974) accounts, both of which you should probably be following.
