Today marks the release of Bone Soldiers, the second full-length album from Steve Lambke (ex-Constantines)’s Baby Eagle, and AUX is pleased to premiere its first video, “Old Punks.” (Funnily, other ex-Con Bry Webb’s first solo album also has a song called “Ex-Punks”.)

Together with band the Proud Mothers—Ian Kehoe, Nick Ferrio, Will Kidman, and Spencer Burton—Lambke recorded Bone Soldiers at increasingly visible studio 6 Nassau in Toronto with Jeff McMurrich over three days during October 2011. The video for “Old Punks” was directed by Colin Medley, who recalls the casual shoot in detail:

“I biked down to 6 Nassau in Kensington Market after class one day last October to find the boys just returning from dinner and ready to start work on a new song,” Medley tells us. “Although I had no plans to shoot a music video, Steve had asked me if I was down to document the night in some capacity. I believe my exact response was, ‘I’m down like a sad clown.’ Anyway, I just crept around the studio while they ran through takes of ‘Old Punks,’ trying not to knock over any mic stands or trip on cables or anything. It was a mellow vibe in the studio that night for sure, just a couple old punks feeling it out, and I think that comes across nicely in this video.”
