Meshuggah’s been away for a while, giving young bands with broken metronomes plenty of time to try and usurp the djent throne from a band whose probably never used the term, but late yesterday a new song from metal’s polyrhythmic kings leaked, delivering their first new music since 2007’s Obzen.

The catch? Nobody knows what the song is called. There are rumours that the band’s own management leaked it (at iamaleak.com, which is registered to a Swedish owner) as a publicity stunt, and some of their nerdy fans hypothesize that it’s the seventh track off of the band’s upcoming Koloss, “Break These Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion,” but without confirmation we can’t be sure.

One thing we can be sure of is this is more or less exactly what you should expect from Meshuggah, a compliment or derision depending on which side of the fence your fandom lies. Listen to the unnamed song (which might be named “Break These Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion”) below.

Koloss hits stores March 27th via Nuclear Blast.
