They’ve provided the anthemic post-rock soundtrack to films as diverse as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Their sound defines TV shows like Friday Night Lights and One Tree Hill. Their sweeping, soaring instrumentals are a music supervisors dream, but that doesn’t mean that Explosions in the Sky should be used to score any old film. AUX was shocked to discover (not create, of course…) some surprisingly inappropriate uses of the Austin-based band’s songs in numerous forgotten films of the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s, and are pleased to present to you, the post-rock soundtrack enthusiast, with six strange cinematic uses of Explosions in the Sky.
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
The Fly II
American Pie
The Jungle Book
Clerks
Monty Python’s the Meaning of Life
