Listen to another song from the Hold Steady's Craig Finn's solo debut, "New Friend Jesus"

Craig Finn’s lyrics have always been the anchor of the Hold Steady’s bar rock, so the quieter, more singer-songwriter-y direction that his upcoming solo album seems to be heading in is proving a good vehicle for some more great stories.

The latest, “New Friend Jesus,” is a country shuffle jam with some sweet harmonies. Check it out over at Stereogum.

Clear Heart Full Eyes comes out on January 24, and in the meantime, the Hold Steady are also working on a new album that Finn has said should be out this year as well.
