There are few lyricists as biting and cynical as Andrew Jackson Jihad’s Sean Bonnette, so when he decided to write a song in support of the Occupy movement, you’d better believe it’d be worth hearing. While “This is Not a War” isn’t as pithy as some of the band’s more recent material, it remains an analogy filled few minutes filled with the band’s usual wordplay.

“This is not a protest, it’s a tortoise slowly pushing through a race. I hope the tortoise keeps its patience while the hare continues to pepper-spray its face,” goes one line midway through the track, which you can listen to below.

“We admire the Occupiers commitment to non-violence and creating a fairer economy, and we hope that it continues until until it no longer needs to. This song is also kind of a prayer, wishing the greed that is undermining our country is motivated by love. I don’t want to believe that evil truly exists,” reads a post from Bonette.
