Cloud Nothings recorded their upcoming album Attack On Memory with legendary producer Steve Albini, and though it seems like it’d be a monumental experience to work with someone of his caliber, band mastermind Dylan Baldi told Pitchfork in a recent interview that it was memorable for other reasons altogether.

“He played Scrabble on Facebook almost the entire time; I learned some Scrabble tricks,” Baldi said. “He would alternate between that and writing on his food blog. I don’t even know if he remembers what our album sounds like.”

Baldi admits that to the band, Albini was just another guy as well, and while he’ll “work with anybody,” what’s important is that the album bears Albini’s raw fingerprint.

“I was familiar with his philosophy before going to the studio, though…The sound he got on the record, especially the drums, is something that I would not be able to do on my own.”
