Bruno Mars was caught with cocaine by a Las Vegas bathroom attendant in September 2010, but last February a judge promised to wipe his record clean if he promised to behave himself, pay a $2000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service. No, really. That’s it.

Naturally Mars did exactly that, and so NME reported earlier that the court followed through as promised, clearing the drug charges from the singer’s record yesterday. Fun fact: Mars wasn’t even in court when the gavel fell. Attorney Blair Berk says his client earned the dismissal, adding that “he exceeded the expectations of the court.”

To reiterate, Mars was forced to pay a $2000 fine, expectations that were surely not hard to exceed given that Doo-Wops & Hooligans—his breakthrough 2010 album—was certified platinum in the US and the third best selling album of the year in the UK.
