A blind, African husband and wife duo that sings almost exclusively in French, Amadou & Mariam have had break-out success in spite of the odds. Rightly so. Not only is Amadou one hell of a guitarist, but Mariam’s vocals add an incredibly unique edge to their sound, self-described as ‘Afro-blues’. And now, still riding high off the success of 2008’s Welcome to Mali, they’re back, announcing Folila, their next album expected out March 27th through Nonesuch.

This time around, they’ve brought friends. The album’s first single, “Dougou Badia,” features guest vocals from Santigold (who co-wrote the song) and extra guitar work from Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, while the rest of Folila will also feature tracks with TV on the Radio, Theophilus London and more. Watch a teaser for the album up top, and head to Pitchfork to hear “Dougou Badia.”
