Everything about this is just very, very lovely.

Two students of Peterborough, ON’s P.C.V.S high school have taken to Youtube in an attempt to rally support after the Administrative Review Committee (ARC) of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) voted to close the school.

The students, Kate and Janelle, say that it is “impossible to quantify the devastating impact the closure of this unique arts focused high school could have on generations of future students in Peterborough.” The school is situated in the city’s downtown and is one of the oldest schools in the country.

Toronto director Jared Raab, who has done music videos for Ohbijou, Born Ruffians, Diamond Rings, and the Arkells, among others, went back to his adolescent alma mater to film the girls, who have a series of lovely covers online already, singing a beautiful take on Neko Case’s “Star Witness,” and help get the word out.

The video was posted on Sunday, and by day’s end, Neko herself was reduced to a pile of tears at the talent and the attempt on their behalf. She tweeted, “Wow. That just made me bawl my eyes out. What beautiful singers. I’m not worthy… Holy god,” and posted it on her Facebook, subsequently getting over a thousand likes. The three eventually made contact, much to the students’ delight.

Watch the beautiful cover above, and take a second to read up on their pleas to save their school.
