Waka Flocka Flame recently pushed back his sophomore album because he says it felt like a “rushed job,” which is kind of shocking to anyone who’s heard his first album. Flockaveli is a lot of fun, certainly, but we’re not sure where we draw the line in our enjoyment—likely somewhere between detached, ironic appreciation and alcohol induced hand waving. The point here is that while Waka’s not exactly the victim of cultural schadenfreude, his style is so mind-numbingly simple that we can’t get our heads around the delays. For those who haven’t heard Flockaveli, nearly every track is based around a beat that rarely consists of little outside of the words “waka,” “flocka,” “flame,” or “pow.” Sometimes they incorporate “bow,” too.

So, the point, then. Waka Flocka Flame says his name a lot, and we wanted to have fun with that. We had a few ideas on how to do this, all of which became increasingly daunting by the second song when we’d estimated over 80 occurrences. This mix is our compromise, an attempt to reduce Flockaveli down to its core: nothing but name drops.
