While Third Eye Blind and Jackson Browne take to Zuccotti Park today at noon and 1pm, respectively, to perform for Occupy Wall Street protestors, other events are being planned around NYC as part of the movement as well, including a weekend takeover of a piece of Times Square.

On Dec 2nd at 6pm, hundreds of performers and artists will head to a privately owned public space in Times Square to stage 24 hours of free performances.

“Our creative resistance is using public space to create an exciting mix with public performances, art, and music in vacant, lifeless corporate, bonus plazas. Through such art, New York artists reimagine their city as a work of art, rather than a retail shopping mall,” reads a part of the manifesto.

No word on any special guests over the weekend, but today, there will also be a general Occupy assembly at Lincoln Centre in NYC, where Composer Philip Glass will join and mic-check a statement. [via Brooklyn Vegan]
