The long-awaited fourth album from Portland indie rockers the Shins has finally been announced: Port of Morrow will be released in March 2012 via frontman James Mercer’s own label Aural Apothecary and Columbia Records.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Portland throughout the past year, with Mercer handling all songwriting duties, lead vocals, and the majority of instrumentation, according to a press release. The record was produced by Greg Kurstin and mixed by Rich Costey.

The band will nail down an exact date and some tour itinerary soon as well, and as with their dates earlier this year, the touring lineup will include Mercer, Yuuki Matthews (bass), Jessica Dobson (guitar), Richard Swift (keyboards), and Joe Plummer (drums).
