Soulja Boy’s first video, for “Crank That,” shows a record executive captivated by the rapper’s Superman Dance and implies that he’s ready to seek the rapper out and hand him a truck full of money. Which is maybe how it happened, we can’t be sure, but the video leaves out the part where a then-under-age rapper signed a bunch of contracts without actually reading them, which we can confirm happened because Soulja Boy is now suing his manager, the aptly named Philip Ransom, for exploitation.

TMZ reports that then-16 year old Soulja Boy signed a bunch of contracts without reading the fine print, one which gives Ransom a cut of his profits…for life. Another stipulation awards 50% of the copyrights to Ransom’s label, which Soulja Boy claims is “commercially unreasonable” and “contrary to music industry custom and practice.”

The lawsuit, which was filed to the Georgia Superior Court, claims the contracts are “unconscionable, oppressive, and unjust.” This of course comes from the kid who writes his name on his sunglasses, so make of it what you will.
